The ISOMETER® iso685 series from Bender represents a cutting-edge range of insulation monitoring devices designed with advanced technology, focusing on reliability, precise measurements, user-friendliness, and sleek design. The **iso685-D-P variant** is particularly useful in systems requiring insulation fault location. Utilizing insulation fault locators from the ISOSCAN® series, such as the measuring current transformer, it identifies the faulty load and assigns the locating current accordingly. The iso685-D-P communicates with EDS440 and EDS441 insulation fault locators through either an RS-485 sensor bus or a top-hat rail bus connection. **Integrated insulation monitoring and fault location** within coupled systems is another key feature. The iso685-D-P device can seamlessly integrate into coupled system configurations. Thanks to the EDSsync function, all iso685-D-P units within a group, along with any connected EDS devices, collaborate in the insulation fault location process, regardless of whether the insulation monitoring operates via ISOnet or through a disabled digital input.
As illustrated in Figure 1, the EDSsync function ensures that even when the right iso685-D-P is deactivated due to a closed coupling switch, an insulation fault detected on either side will trigger simultaneous fault location searches across both sides of the switch.
The **IOM441 input/output module** allows up to 50 EDS devices to connect to a single iso685-D-P. By pairing EDS44x devices with the IOM441 module, you can create a potential-free contact for each measurement channel, enabling the generation of signals or disconnection of outputs for less critical loads, ensuring that essential loads continue to operate uninterrupted.
New measurement techniques enable the identification of high-impedance faults, even in systems with substantial leakage capacitance and low locating currents. Faulty channels are clearly displayed on the iso685-D-P, with options for plain text messaging, simplifying the troubleshooting process further.
For communication purposes, the iso685-D-P supports multiple protocols including Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU, and isoData. This flexibility ensures seamless integration into various existing communication infrastructures, making it a versatile choice for modern industrial environments.
