Changed from talked to mature to respond to the domestic car recall changed taste (Figure)

On November 20, Chery Automobile Co., Ltd. submitted a recall report to AQSIQ. From November 26th onwards, it recalled the Oriental Sons series models that were produced from July 14, 2003 to May 6, 2005, a total of 18,673 units. . This is the first recall implemented by independent brand manufacturers.

The move marks a year after the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine announced the "Annual Report on the Implementation of Defective Automobile Products Recall Management Regulations" one year later, the automotive industry has changed from a disguise before implementation to a mature response, response and cooperation.

Recall has become commonplace

We learned from the information published by the China Automotive Recall Network that from June 18, 2004 to the latest, October 28, 2005, a total of 38 recalls were implemented, of which 11 were engine defects and brake/wheel defects 9 Substances, 9 parts of body defects, steering/suspension 3 times, power transmission system, air conditioners, and electronic appliances 2 times each;

Among the joint venture brands, the Changan Suzuki Alto sedans were the most recalled, reaching 157,450 vehicles, at least 9 cars from the FAW Toyota Vios; among the imported cars, the most were the Mercedes-Benz E-class vehicles with 5,345, and the least were the Mercedes-Benz, A-Class and VIANO. 1 each

From the car segment, including joint ventures and imports, the Japanese car recalled 20 times in total, the European car 10 times, the Korean car 4 times, and the American car 3 times.

At the same time, a large-scale recall was conducted internationally. In April this year, Mercedes-Benz recalled more than 1.3 million vehicles. In October-November, Toyota continuously recalled 1.27 million Corolla and Vios, 160,000 PRIUS and 246,000 vehicles. Crown and sea lions.

The domestic recall of Mercedes-Benz is synchronized with that of the international community. In fact, Mercedes-Benz and Mitsubishi, especially the latter, have already been recalled before October 1, 2004 due to domestic pressure.

However, there are some manufacturers, such as Toyota's "selective" recall. For example, for the high-end brand Lexus, the three recalls in China do not fall behind. However, in September of this year, it refused to recall 1,163 big tyrants that were defective in China because of “no safety implications, according to domestic laws”. Instead, they replaced them with dealers and free repairs, but It was, but on August 16, 2004, a recall was made for the defect of "non-safety" land cruise air conditioners. This kind of reciprocating behavior was rather puzzling.

Domestic manufacturers: Recall for recall

Looking at domestic manufacturers, no matter whether it is China's first call to be implemented by FAW Car, Changan Suzuki’s recall cost is only the largest recall of RMB 0.20, plus the recall of 9 vehicles from FAW Toyota Vios. The timing, the cost, or the amount always gives people a “recall for recall” and suspects for “recall”.

If we look more closely, the description of defects in the foreign recall announcements indicates that there are 23 cases that may cause the engine to fail to work, possible fire, possible increase in the risk of collision, and possible increase in passenger injury after a collision. However, in the domestic auto recall announcement, only four manufacturers mentioned safety issues. An auto dealer, who declined to be named, said that so far the announcement of the recalled cars is a small problem that is easy to solve and basically does not require cost. If there are really problems that cannot be solved, few manufacturers are willing to recall.

Moreover, during the recall process, there were also cases where competing vehicles were assembled and recalled, and some manufacturers that consistently followed a low-key approach had a high-profile recall. In addition, vehicle defects were not very serious. Many people believed that they were using the name “recall”. "Marketing" is true.

Why are frequent recalls?

Although compared with a year ago, people's mentality of recalling has been relatively mature and will not fully link the recall behavior with the quality of products, frequent recalls will cause consumers to question why they are self-reliant brands with reliable quality. Will defects occur frequently?

The recall of the Toyota Vios 9 vehicles caused much controversy at the time, and the explanation given by FAW Toyota was also hard to convince: It was alleged that the in-house quality inspection department found defects, and the investigated sales channels sold a total of 9 Vehicles, so only nine vehicles were recalled. But also take this opportunity to greatly flaunt their rapid reaction and "lean production."

However, it is doubtful that this production is due to Toyota's omitting its investment in product quality costs. It is the lack of investment in prevention and identification that has caused a global recall of 1.27 million vehicles. It is reported that these 1.27 million vehicles were produced between May 2000 and August 2002. If lean production did not find defects for such a long period of time, where is the “precision” and where is “benefits”? If Toyota can't face up to the quality of the product, even if the number of recalls is too large, it will not give the consumer an impression of responsibility. Instead, it will be recalled to hurt the double-edged sword. (Text / Zheng Haiyang)
