Zhang Shuping, director of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China, said during an interview with the Xinhua News Agency during the visit of the European Union headquarters that China is constantly strengthening the inspection of the quality of export products and that "Made in China" is willing to meet the inspection of world standards.

From May 12th to 14th, Zhi Shuping led the China Quality Supervision Delegation to visit the European Commission to conduct dialogue with senior EU officials on issues concerning consumer goods safety in China and Europe, and conducted extensive discussions on further cooperation.

The quality inspection of Chinese products has become the main topic of both parties. Since 2003, the European Union has implemented a non-food dangerous product rapid-announcement alert mechanism, and regularly reports product quality to non-food consumer products. In recent years, Chinese products often appear on the list. This support Shuping said that the product quality problem "has both domestic and joint problems with foreign quality systems." He believes that a small number of domestically-produced goods do have problems, and that different domestic and foreign standards systems and related laws and regulations do not correspond, and this also has an impact on product quality assessment.

Zhi Shuping said, first of all, there is asymmetric information. In the unqualified products notified by the European Union to China each year, some of the information is inaccurate. As the Chinese quality inspection department investigated, some so-called Chinese companies that were notified did not exist at all. In addition, there are problems with unclear regulations, such as a standard when the product enters the customs, but later the local standards are modified, resulting in a product failure. There is also the problem of designers. Many designers of products in China are abroad. Design defects should not be borne by the manufacturer.

In recent years, China has actively cooperated with the EU's rapid early-warning mechanism and established a Chinese project within the system. Zhi Shuping said that “Made in China” is willing to accept high-level inspections from the world and full cooperation with the EU can not only use the EU’s information platform to increase exchanges with other countries in the consumer goods field, but also transfer the EU’s voice and demand to the country. . More importantly, we can use this platform to guide Chinese companies to improve product quality and make the image of “Made in China” better. "Through a high-level test, boosting the confidence of Chinese producers and consumers also boosts the confidence of EU consumers."

In today's Europe, Chinese-made products can be seen everywhere. In the hearts of the local people, the concept of equating "Made in China" with cheap goods is constantly changing. Zhi Shuping believes that this is inseparable from the series of measures taken by the Chinese government in recent years.

He said that China is continuously strengthening the construction of corporate integrity, classifying and supervising export enterprises, providing convenience to reputable companies, and conducting strict review and management of enterprises with insufficient integrity. China has severely cracked down on intellectual property infringement activities and achieved remarkable results. In addition, the government will pass information on foreign standards and regulations and product quality requirements to exporting companies so that they can produce according to the product quality requirements of the importing country.
