The alliance has seven branches, including battery materials, test verification, recycling and so on.

As one of the seven branches, the Power Battery Branch focuses on the national strategy, builds an innovation chain around the industry chain, allocates resources, and accelerates the revolutionary breakthrough in power battery technology based on the principle of “collaborative innovation, open cooperation, complementary resources, and shared results”. Support China's power battery to achieve industrial upgrading and sustainable development, and support China's new energy vehicles to gain competitive advantage.

The Innovation Alliance is a national, industry-based, non-profit consortium established under the guidance of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Its members include research, design, manufacturing, and test verification in the fields of new energy electric vehicles, power batteries and related materials, technologies and equipment. Advantages of battery ladder utilization and recycling, enterprises, research institutes, universities and industry organizations. The status of the innovation alliance is evident, and the authority is unquestionable.

According to China's new energy vehicle technology roadmap, the innovation task of power battery is still very arduous. By 2020, the specific energy of the new lithium-ion battery cell reaches 350Wh/kg, the cost is 0.6 yuan/Wh; the specific energy of the battery system reaches 260Wh/kg, the cost is reduced to 1.0 yuan/Wh; the cruising range of pure electric vehicle is 400 kilometers, use The economy and convenience are basically the same as those of traditional gasoline vehicles. By 2030, the specific energy of the new system battery cell reaches 500Wh/kg~700Wh/kg, and the cost is further reduced. The pure electric vehicle has a driving distance comparable to that of the conventional fuel vehicle, and the economy is competitive.

To achieve the goal of power battery innovation, the burden of the power battery branch is not light. Breaking through the performance, cost, longevity and durability, safety and reliability of the next generation of power batteries, accelerating the realization of China's power battery industry innovation and forming international competitiveness are all problems faced by power battery clubs. In order to achieve innovation, the Power Battery Division will focus on five aspects of work.

(1) Research on policy and industrial development. Closely track the development of the international automotive power battery industry, investigate and analyze the development of China's power battery industry, continue to carry out research on the competitiveness of China's power battery industry, provide policy advice to the government, and provide consulting services for the industry.

(II) Organizing industry technical research: Under the leadership of the Innovation Alliance, organize member units in the industry to determine the key research directions on the basis of research on automotive power battery manufacturing technology, manufacturing of power batteries, and large-scale intelligent manufacturing technology. And the topic, collaborative research on key projects, to achieve scientific and technological resources sharing, collaborative innovation, responsibility sharing, benefit sharing, enhance the industry's scientific and technological level and intelligent manufacturing capabilities, and promote the benign and healthy development of the industry.

(III) Participation in the revision, formulation and implementation of standard laws and regulations: cooperate with standardization organizations, organize members to actively research, demonstrate, evaluate and track the relevant standards and regulations of automotive power batteries, and actively organize and participate in relevant groups, industries, national standards and regulations. (IV) Self-discipline development of the industry: Under the leadership of the Innovation Alliance, formulate industry self-discipline norms, oppose unfair competition, supervise the implementation of member units, and lead the healthy and orderly development of the industry.
