General Electric will supply gas turbines for Qatar and UAE


It is reported that General Electric Company of the United States has recently reached an agreement with Qatar and UAE manufacturers to supply, update and maintain gas turbines for their manufacturers, with a total transaction value of 260 million U.S. dollars.
Qatar Fuel Company has signed two 5-year contracts with the representative company of GE Power Systems in Italy with a total value of 200 million U.S. dollars. General Electric will repair and upgrade the gas turbines for Qatar Fuel Company.
The UAE Federal Water and Electricity Authority and General Electric have signed a contract worth US$60.5 million. General Electric will supply two 123 MW gas turbines for two power plants in the United Arab Emirates. When the new turbine was put into operation in 2003, it will double the power generation capacity of the two plants.
GE Power Systems is a global leader in generator technology and energy services. Its operating income in 2000 was $15.2 billion.
