Flotation time and selection index

The so-called floating beneficiation rate refers to the recovery rate of useful components obtained in a certain time in a certain floating concentrator and under certain operating conditions. If V is used for floating beneficiation speed, ε is the recovery rate, and t is the floating beneficiation time, then its mathematical formula is:

Therefore, increasing the speed of floating beneficiation is to increase the recovery rate and shorten the floating beneficiation time. Increasing the speed of floating beneficiation is an important issue in the operation of floating concentrators.

The so-called floating beneficiation time refers to the time during which the slurry stays in the floating ore dressing tank, or the time during which the slurry flows in the floating ore dressing tank. For example, the roughing time is 10 minutes, that is, the time for the slurry to flow through the rough selection flotation tank is 10 minutes. In the same way, the same is true for the sweeping and selection of floating beneficiation time.

Under the same conditions, the performance of floating beneficiation has a great relationship with the flotation time. Generally, the recovery rate increases with the increase of floating beneficiation time. However, after a certain period of time, the floating beneficiation time is prolonged, and the recovery rate is no longer increased. Instead, the concentrate quality needs to be reduced, so the floating ore dressing time is increased. Lost meaning, as shown in Figure 6-31.

The appropriate flotation beneficiation time for each ore is generally determined by a beneficiation test. Increasing the floating beneficiation time in production requires an increase in the number of floating concentrators and an increase in electrical energy consumption. Therefore, the right to choose floating beneficiation time is important for floating beneficiation technical and economic indicators, especially for multi-metal ore beneficiation floating even more so.
