Toshiba aims to mass-produce the TZ1021MBG chip in March next year

Toshiba Corp. of Japan will start sampling a new arm-based application processor this month for wearable devices. A Toshiba spokesman announced on November 10 the latest TZ1021MBG chip that will be used in wearable devices such as smart watches, smart glasses, activity monitoring devices and smart bracelets. The new chip products will be displayed on the 11th of November in the first four-day electronics exhibition in Germany. A Toshiba spokesperson stated that their goal is to mass produce the TZ1021MBG chip in March 2015.
A Toshiba spokesman said that their new TZ1021MBG chip also contains highly sensitive analog-to-digital converters that will help the device receive and measure weak biological signals such as pulse or heart activity. The TZ1021MBG chip is available in a small package. It also includes 8MB of memory. Wearable device space is expected to grow rapidly in the coming years, with IDC analysts saying that shipments of wearable devices will exceed 19 million units in April, and that this figure will increase to 111.9 million units by 2018. The main technical members of wearable devices are Samsung, Apple, and Google, which are pushing their way into the field of wearable devices. The range of devices is expanding and they will compete with specialized suppliers such as Fitbit and Zhuobang.
