Wuxi reduces steel production capacity through three years of consolidation

At the annual meeting of the Wuxi Metallurgical Industry Association held on March 25th, according to the requirements of the national steel industry policy, Wuxi will cut back the production capacity of steel and ban the blind expansion of steel production capacity on the grounds of technological transformation and product upgrading.

In order to accelerate the transformation and upgrading of Wuxi's steel industry and take the road of sustainable development, Wuxi will integrate the steel industry from this year to 2012. By 2012, the total production of crude steel in Wuxi will be controlled within 10 million tons, and the total steel output will be controlled within 20 million tons. Encourage small and medium iron and steel enterprises in Wuxi to implement capacity integration to form 5-6 key enterprises with a certain scale and characteristics.
