There are five possible ways to achieve China's automotive emission reduction targets: the use of traditional automotive and internal combustion engine emission reduction technologies; the promotion of diesel cars, diesel-electric hybrid power; the use of alternative energy sources; the miniaturization, lightweighting, and electronicization of automobiles; .

The above methods can achieve energy-saving and emission reduction of automobiles. However, from the perspective of the whole process, the entire industry chain, and the entire life cycle, diesel engines are by far the most effective power device. From the perspective of energy density and power output density, the internal combustion engine is still the best choice for vehicle power; from the perspective of the overall efficiency of vehicle power, the efficiency of traditional internal combustion engines has advantages; although the fuel cell has a good development prospect, but the current technology maturity There are still problems with the cost and it needs constant research. Moreover, the earth also contains abundant petroleum and other petrochemical resources. The development of traditional automotive power systems represented by diesel engines (including diesel-electric hybrid systems) is promising and still has broad prospects.

Of course, alternative fuels are an important way for the continued development of diesel engines. Natural gas is the most important alternative energy source for vehicles. Its technology is mature and its cost is low. The use of flammable ice resources in the future will also provide good prospects for the development of natural gas vehicles; alcohol fuels (methanol/ethanol) are the most promising biomass energy, and their compatibility with diesel engines and complete industrial chain are important. Renewable energy sources for vehicles; alternative energy sources such as DME (dimethyl ether) and LPG are effective supplements for energy for vehicles under conditions of regional energy supply discrepancies.

At the same time, the development of hybrid power has explored an important way for the sustainable development of diesel engines. Stop/Start can achieve 3%~6% diesel fuel consumption reduction with minimal technical risk and investment; light mixing will increase costs moderately, and can achieve 10%~15% of fuel economy in diesel engine power system; mixed/heavy Mixed with long-term development prospects, can save 15% to 40%.

However, real new energy vehicles cannot pose a threat to conventional internal combustion engines for the foreseeable future. The technical bottleneck of fuel cell development has not yet been overcome. Too high costs can not form a reasonable industrial chain; the energy density of solar cars is too low, the publicity effect is greater than the actual application, and solving the problems of cost and life needs continuous technological innovation.

In terms of energy-saving and emission reduction, FAW has also achieved great results in liberating Xichai.

First, Xichai uses new technologies to enhance the power density of diesel engines and reduce fuel consumption to achieve low carbon emissions. By adopting supercharged, supercharged intercooling and four-valve technology, and continuously optimizing the structural design, the minimum fuel consumption of the diesel engine has been reduced from 230g/kW.h in 2000 to the current 195g/kW.h, according to xichai 300,000. Taiwan's annual production capacity can save more than 220,000 tons of fuel per year and reduce CO2 emissions by nearly 620,000 tons.

Second, continuously upgrade emission levels and reduce harmful emissions. By optimizing the combustion design and adopting electronically controlled common rail technology, from the upgrade of State I emission in 2000 to the current state III emission, the NOx emission is reduced from 9.0g/kW.h to 5.0g/kW.h, and the particle emission is from 0.36g/kW. .h is reduced to 0.10 g/kW.h. According to the production scale of 300,000 units of xichai, the annual NOx emission reduction is 14200 tons, and the particulate emission reduction exceeds 9300 tons.

Third, optimize the production process, reduce energy consumption, so that the energy consumption per unit of GDP dropped significantly. Xichai optimized the production process, diesel engine factory test time reduced from an average of 1 to 1.5 hours to the current 0.5 hours, 7500 tons of fuel consumption can be saved each year; optimization of machining, casting, heat treatment and other processes, but also greatly reduces production energy consumption.
