From Chi-Town Fire Photos:
On Tuesday afternoon, several companies from Cicero were dispatched to 28th and Cicero Avenue after reports of fire coming from a building. As more calls came in, the location was corrected to 4827 and 4829 West 28th Street. Engine Company 3 arrived first and reported heavy fire coming from the rear of a 2.5-story wood-frame structure with exposure issues. Shortly after, Cicero Engine 12 reached the scene and quickly boxed in the fire. They reported that two 2.5-story buildings were heavily involved. Multiple 2.5-inch lines were deployed from all three Cicero engines. Truck Company 2 made an aggressive Milwaukee-style roof cut, which helped save much of the roof on one of the buildings. Truck Company 1 was on the roof of an adjacent building, making several holes to control the fire. Mutual aid was provided by departments from Berwyn, Stickney, Oak Park, River Forest, Forest Park, Bedford Park, Lyons, and Riverside. All responding units worked aggressively from both inside and outside, helping to prevent the fire from spreading further and saving the remaining structures.
