Last night, Cicero was hit by a serious structure fire on 35th Street and 55th Court. Cicero Engine 3, which is stationed just two blocks away, arrived to find heavy flames coming from the rear of a 2.5-story wood-frame home that also included a garage and a coach house. Chief F12 immediately secured the scene upon arrival. Engine 3 quickly deployed three lines, while Engine 1 used a 2.5-inch line in the alley to tackle the main fire. Stickney and Lyons engines laid 2.5-inch lines into the side alleys to protect nearby buildings. In total, six lines were in operation along with Truck 1’s aerial master stream. The affected addresses were 3501, 3503, and 3505 S 55th Court. Firefighters managed to control what was already an advanced fire, preventing it from spreading further.
